Steel surface preparation before coating

Sandblasting and surface preparation

Sandblasting to prep steel and fabricated work for coating — part of OTEK's in-house finishing capability.

  • Surface preparation
  • Ready for coating
  • In-house with spray painting

What's included

Surface prep that sets up a lasting coat

Sandblasting at OTEK prepares steel and fabricated work so coatings bond properly — rust, scale, old paint and surface contamination stripped back so protective or finishing coats have a clean, consistent base. It’s part of our in-house finishing capability, not a bolt-on from another yard.

We blast work fabricated here and items brought in for prep ahead of spray painting. Keeping blast and paint under one roof means less cartage, fewer handovers, and a clearer finish path for plant, pipework, frames and general steel Australia-wide.

Tell us what you’re blasting — size, condition, and whether it needs paint after. We’ll confirm scope, quote the prep (and coating if required), then move straight into spray painting when the job calls for a finished, protected surface.

How blast jobs usually run
